“LightFury Games, a gaming startup, announced on Wednesday that it successfully raised $8.5 million in its first round of fundraising. The round was led by Blume Ventures, alongside other prominent investors. The company plans to utilize the funds to develop AAA titles and recruit top talent for its studios in India and the UK.
AAA games, renowned for their exceptional polish and quality, are typically created by leading gaming studios with substantial financial and technical capabilities.
Karan Shroff, CEO and Co-Founder of LightFury Games, expressed optimism about the burgeoning gaming market in India, emphasizing the opportune moment for the company to leverage its expertise in the industry. Shroff stated, “We aim to leverage this capital to attract top-tier talent in the country and propel India onto the global gaming stage.”
Among the investors in the funding round were MIXI, Gemba Capital, and various Angels, with notable individuals like Kunal Shah and Gaurav Munjal also participating.
LightFury Games was established by Shroff, gaming industry veteran Anurag Banerjee, and Tina Balachandran, former executive of Unacademy and Tencent Games.
Karthik Reddy, Co-Founder and Managing Partner at Blume Ventures, expressed excitement about the investment, highlighting the company’s ability to assemble talent and attract supporters from the gaming and consumer sectors. Reddy stated, “This investment is one of the most thrilling we’ve made in this space.”
