The Karnataka government plans to invest Rs 1 lakh crore to tackle Bengaluru’s traffic congestion, says Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar. The project includes tunnel roads, a sky deck, double-decker flyovers, elevated corridors, and metro network extensions. The aim is to decongest the city, which has seen a surge in vehicles.
Shivakumar highlighted the need for these projects to keep up with Bengaluru’s growing population and vehicle numbers. Proposed plans include a 40-km twin tunnel costing Rs 42,500 crore, a 41-km double-decker metro corridor estimated at Rs 18,000 crore, and 110-km elevated corridors costing Rs 15,000 crore. Additionally, a second airport and a Rs 500-crore Sky Deck project are part of the initiative.
The government hopes these measures will improve traffic flow and enhance Bengaluru’s overall quality of life. The investment is part of a broader strategy to boost the city’s infrastructure and support its growth.
