ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund (MF) stands out for its conservative strategy. It has the least exposure to small and midcap stocks among India’s top five fund houses, as per Morningstar data. By December 31, 2024, small and midcap stocks made up just 21.19% of ICICI Pru AMC’s total assets in pure equity schemes. Chief Investment Officer S Naren recently advised investors to reduce small and midcap holdings due to high valuations.
Other top fund houses like SBI, HDFC, Aditya Birla Sun Life, and Nippon India have higher small and midcap exposure. They allocated 26.74%, 26.48%, 29.74%, and 28.97% of their total assets in pure equity schemes to these stocks, respectively.
ICICI Pru MF’s cautious stance focuses on risk management and long-term stability. By limiting exposure to volatile small and midcap segments, the fund house aims to protect investors from market fluctuations and deliver consistent returns.
