Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar: State Unable to Allocate Resources for Development Amid Financial Constraints and Poll Guarantees”
Ahead of the Congress Party Legislature Meeting in Bengaluru, Deputy CM DK Shivakumar revealed that the Karnataka state government would face challenges in funding development projects. He attributed the constraints to financial mismanagement by the previous government and the commitment to fulfill the party’s five poll guarantees, which required setting aside a significant ₹40,000 crores. As disgruntled legislators expressed their concerns about stalled work and bureaucratic transfers in their constituencies, Mr. Shivakumar assured that the situation would be explained during the legislature party meeting and urged for their patience and cooperation.
Despite reports of discontent among Congress MLAs, both CM Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar denied any dissent within the party. However, they acknowledged the high expectations of the legislators and emphasized their efforts to clarify the financial situation and seek the MLAs’ cooperation during the challenging period.
