Akshata Murthy, the wife of UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, is set to witness substantial growth in her wealth in 2023, thanks to the recently announced second-quarter results of IT giant Infosys. As a promoter of the company, Akshata Murthy holds 3,89,57,096 shares of Infosys, accounting for 1.05% of the firm’s total paid-up capital.
According to an analysis by Mint, Infosys’ declaration of a dividend of Rs 18 per share has led to a significant increase in Akshata Murthy’s net worth, amounting to approximately Rs 70,12,27,728 (calculated as Rs 18 multiplied by 70,12,27,728), which is roughly Rs 70 crore.
This boost in wealth comes after Infosys also declared an impromptu dividend of Rs 17.50 per share following the release of its Q1 2023 results. As Infosys shares went ex-dividend on June 2, 2023, in preparation for distributing an interim dividend of Rs 17.50 to eligible shareholders, Akshata Murthy’s net worth surged by around Rs 68 crore in June 2023.
Therefore, the First Lady of the UK, Akshata Murthy, is experiencing a substantial increase in her net worth, totaling almost Rs 138 crore (Rs 70 crore + Rs 68 crore) due to Infosys’ dividend declarations. However, it’s important to note that she will be eligible for the Rs 18 per share interim dividend only if she retains the same number of shares until the record date for the Infosys dividend, which is set for October 25, 2023.
Akshata Murthy is the daughter of NR Narayana Murthy, one of Infosys’ billionaire co-founders and former CEO, and Sudha Murthy, a renowned author.
