Health authorities detected the first case of Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) in India. An eight-month-old baby tested positive for the virus at a Bengaluru hospital. The Karnataka government informed the Union Health Ministry about the case. HMPV, a respiratory virus, causes symptoms similar to the flu or common cold, including cough, fever, and nasal congestion. Infants and the elderly are particularly vulnerable to severe complications. Officials are closely monitoring the situation and have urged the public to take necessary precautions to prevent the spread of infections.
